Let me Introduce Myself…
Lyric coloratura soprano Ashley Schumacher is passionate about operatic performance, vocal pedagogy, and church music. She strives to fully embody every character as a performer, bringing audiences with her on a journey to other worlds and times. As an educator, Ashley is dedicated to providing young singers with healthy techniques that will allow young singers to grow with sustainable technical practices.
Recent performances include the role of Nella from Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi as part of Opera Lucca in Lucca, Italy (2024). In this upcoming fall from November 21st-24th, she will be singing the role of Dominant Chord in The Classical Style by Steven Stucky with the Peabody Conservatory Opera Department. She has also had chorus appearances in Die Fledermaus with the Peabody Conservatory Opera Department (2024) as well as in Le Nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni as part of the Prague Summer Nights Young Artists Music Festival (2022). She was the first prize winner in the NATS Upper Classical Treble category for Kentucky (2022) and the Mid-South region (2023).
Ashley is also passionate about teaching young students healthy singing techniques and is currently studying her Masters of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy in order to pursue her dreams as an educator as well as a performer. She grew up singing musical theater and fell in love with the combination of singing and acting. When she could not find a sustainable method for her voice, she leaned on classical training to help prevent vocal damage. Ashley now seeks to share her experiences with young artists looking to bring their singing abilities to the next level.
Ashley grew up in the evangelical church and has been a part of her contemporary worship team since middle school. She is trained in leading a contemporary worship band, work sound, lights, and livestream. She also produced Asbury Worship Collective's most recent album, Homebound (2024), and sang “Take my Life” and “King of All” in their album Kingdom (2022) available on Apple Music and Spotify. She is also a passionate conductor for choirs young and old.
She is now pursuing her Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy at the Peabody Conservatory, studying under soprano Elizabeth Futral. Ashley graduated from Asbury University with a degree in Music Vocal Performance and Worship Arts.
In her spare time, Ashley loves to bake, cook, spend time with her family and friends, play games, go hiking, and so much more!
